How To Make Fried Mozzarella Sandwich
Ingredients
2 x Slices of Thick Cut White Bread
50ml x Milk
50g x Plain/All Purpose Flour
Pinch Of Salt
1/2 x Mozzarella Ball
2 x Eggs Beaton
Olive Oil For Shallow Frying
Dipping Sauce
Tomato Passata
Salt & Black Pepper to Taste
Fresh Basil
Method
1. Begin by cutting the crusts off the bread and then place the milk into one bowl and the plain flour into another. Season the flour with salt.
2. Dip the bread slices into the milk, but not for too long. Place half a mozzarella ball into the centre of one bread slice and sandwich it together with the other slice of bread. Press it down firmly. Then, dip it into the seasoned flour until fully coated.
3. Place a frying pan over medium-low heat and drizzle in the olive oil. while it's heating up, crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk well.
4. Dip the mozzarella sandwich into the beaten egg and place it in the hot frying pan. Cook for two and a half minutes on each side until golden brown.
5. Serve with a simple dipping sauce of good quality tomato passata seasoned with salt and black pepper. Finish with fresh chopped basil and enjoy!
